Mindset

There is so much constant chatter in the health and fitness industry. One person saying one thing, another fitspo saying another. It doesn’t matter if you’re trying to figure out how to lose weight, gain muscle, or just find a diet plan that actually works, everyone always has something to say. And I admit, I become tired of seeing the debates.

Bring up any topic, and you hear complaints. It is good to always want to try to improve something, but not at the expense of just arguing “too much info” “not enough info” “you shouldn’t do that” “do this” and so on. I could go on and on, and no matter how many “flaws” are mentioned, addressing any one issue would still leave a hundred other issues. BUT, this is so because there’s absolutely nothing more valuable than your health. We can 100% agree to that. There’s a legitimate reason why so many people are willing to spend so much money trying to look and feel better. Your health is important. Being strong is important. Your appearance means something to you. Your health is your life and it is precious.

If you ignore that responsibility of taking care of your health (mentally and physically), then it doesn’t matter who you are, life will find a way to take you down and not feel optimally. So it makes sense that we keep trying to “fix the fitness system”. But at this point it’s worth taking a pause, take a step back and ask ourselves: what will better me? what can I control? We need to spend the majority of our energy focusing on aspects of our health that we can DIRECTLY control. What makes ME feel better. What is working for ME. What is making MY BODY run and feel its best.

My goal is to influence you in a positive way, hoping you find what fuels your body well, to influence you to build healthy habits that stick, and to motivate you to move your body in a way that you enjoy. If it were up to me, we’d all spend less time trying to fix the fitness industry, and more time trying to fix ourselves as individuals. And if I could change one thing in the fitness industry, it would be that everyone would be more comfortable in their own skin and know that it is possible. Less focus on the right and wrong, and more focus on what makes you feel good, what is good for your body and moving it in that way. The image based reality of fitness, debates on the right diets and who can do it better can truly fog our brain and stall our progress, but when we shift our mindset and focus on changing this mindset, that is where we will have more success and results, and less stress and anxiety.

Regardless of your physical state, everyone is battling something against their health and may have inadequacies that make living a healthier lifestyle more complicated. So oftentimes, it is our own mindset and self perception that is more crippling than the the “bad” diet plan, “bad” trainer and so on and so forth. At the end of the day, believing that you can become something better, believing that you can do it, and loving who you are is what will motivate you to do what’s necessary for you, instead of focusing on the flaws. Be willing to fight for you, your body, and your life. Let your personal struggles be your motivation and learn to love yourself at every single point in your life and fitness journey. You are worth it.

Let's rise above, have positive self talk and build healthy habits that work for us.

Xoxo, MK
