What if You Just Started, Take Control of Your Well-Being!

Many people fall into the trap of “when I have this” or “when this happens” or "I’ll start when...". We all seem to think we need the newest workout gear or a perfectly clear schedule to get started moving towards our goals, when all it takes is one small step RIGHT where you are.

What if you started working towards your goals with what you have, where you are, in your current circumstances, right now? There's never going to be a perfect moment, so it's about getting started on building sustainable habits today. The way to get results and make progress is to just get started. It's not about having all the things, the perfect plan, all the gear, or the cleared schedule, it's about actually taking action.

First, build awareness of the thoughts that are holding us back. Second, dig deep and find your WHY. Understand the reason why you want to improve your health, well-being and fitness. Hold it close to you. It can be something very simple or very complex. But realize external motivation comes and goes, that's why you have to reach deep within your heart for the intrinsic or internal motivation to get up and get moving. It doesn't have to be extreme movement, start slow, start steady, just start by building consistency with moving your body. Book your workouts ahead of time and leave wiggle room if you need to modify. When you make a commitment to yourself like that, you'll be more likely to stick with it.

As we dive into a new year, I don't want you to overwhelm yourself but I want you to stick to the habits you’ve been building on focus on a few things: Your nutrition: Be conscious about what you are putting into your body and focus on high quality foods to fuel yourself well, not "diets" or quick fixes that are fleeting.

Your workouts: Start where you are at your current fitness level, with what works for your schedule. Don't compare your fitness journey to someone else's. If working out 2-3 a week fits into your schedule BE PROUD of that. Wake up 15-30 minutes early to get your training done. Break up your workouts if you need to. Lean on the Tone and Sculpt Community for encouragement when you’re not feeling it.

Yourself: Take time for you! Get at least 5-10 minutes of self care each day. Set boundaries and keep them. Practice mindfulness and gratitude.

Finally, everyone has a day when the best plans don’t get executed. Don’t focus on setback, but rather on the comeback. There may be good value in a step back to move forward with more fuel, once again.

Join me and thousands of women world-wide on our health and fitness journey, supporting one another, doing workouts alongside each other and trying to be the best version of ourselves, whatever the day brings.

Xoxo, MK
