The Best Beauty Products You Need In Your Gym Bag!

Part of taking care of your body is taking care of your skin. If you are an avid gym goer, home gym or not, I’m sure you know that sometimes you need to make changes to your regular beauty regime. With things such as sweat and dirt constantly getting in your hair and on your skin, it can be hard to find a beauty regime that works for you.

In this blog I want to share some of my favorite beauty products and tips I use before or after a workout, that really make a difference in my routine.

Cleanser. I'm sure many of you have heard me say this before, but I don't like working out with makeup on. I find it makes my skin break out as it clogs my pores and my skin doesn't get a chance to breathe. If I do have a little makeup on I like to use cleanser and/or cleansing wipes to remove this beforehand, so I always keep some in my bag. My go-to cleanser that’s made for women that sweat, which is super light and hydrating is Fre Skincare cleanser. I have been using it since 2017 and wont go back! Also, if you have had a really tough gym session and are feeling yucky and sweaty, cleansing your face can be really refreshing and takes 2 seconds. I use Purify Me Hydrating Facial Cleanser. On top of this, it helps remove any dirt and bacteria you picked up during your workout and prevent pimples from forming.

Serum and moisturizer. After my workout and after I cleanse my face of the debris with cleanser, I don’t want to leave it bare and dry so I always have my serum or moisturizer on me. My go-to serum is the Revive Me Deep Replenishing Serum. I love this serum because it promotes a healthy energized glow, keeping my skin hydrated and nourished with minerals and vitamins. Going even a step further it is paraben free, gluten free, mineral oil free and crudely free. I also love the Glow Body Nourishing Dry Oil and Recover Me Solution.

SPF. Along with serum, I always have spf for my hands, face and neck. The elements of running outdoors and sweaty workouts puts a toll on my skin. If only I could have told my younger self that! Ladies, protect and love the skin your in! UV rays cause skin damage. Make sure to apply spf to your face, hands and neck, especially if you are going out after your workouts. I also try my best to apply it early in the AM before my day begins.

BB Cream. If you are one of those people that goes to the gym before or after work or an outing, I know sometimes it's harder to remove your makeup, so I recommend using BB cream or BB powder instead of foundation. I personally find it to be a little better for your skin as it allows it to breathe better and less "cakey". You can also find BB creams with extra benefits for your skin, such as SPF protection and moisturizing properties. Some of my go-to's are Bare Minerals and Physician's Formula.

Deodorant. This one seems like a no brainer, but if you work out a lot you may be surprised how much you actually need it! I have deodorant in my gym bag as well as my car so I am never caught out without it. It's a lifesaver - trust me! I tend to go toward the all natural, aluminum free deodorants. My go-to is Schmidts. Schmidt's natural deodorant formulas use innovative ingredients derived from plants and minerals to help effectively neutralize odor. They are free of aluminum, propylene glycol, parabens, phthalates, and contain no artificial fragrances or coloring, which is awesome!

Extra hair ties and pins. Keep your hair out of your eyes and face. If you have a bangs, pin them back when working out. And if you have longer hair, tie it up! Not only can this help to keep dirt and bacteria off your skin, but it may prevent breakouts as sweat won't be getting trapped on your forehead and face. It can also help to keep the sweat out of your hair so you don't have to spend as much effort refreshing it. I have learned from my past to keep a pack of hair ties in my gym bag from now on.

I hope these simple tips have helped! I know it can be frustrating trying to stick to a good beauty regime when you are constantly fighting sweat, but think about how worth it is in the end!

Xoxo, MK
