How to Bounce Back from a Binge

How to Recover from a bit of a binge? Rather than telling yourself to deprive yourself and not enjoy your time, I thought I would put together a few tips on how to bounce back if you did go overboard the snack train. Remember, it’s okay to treat yourself from time to time, don’t waste time feeling guilty, just focus on what you can do after to get back on track.

1. Drink plenty of water. When you're "busy" in quarantine or with friends and family, it's possible that you're not drinking as much water as you normally would. Water can really help to stimulate your digestive system, so increasing your fluids can help get things moving and reduce the bloat.

2. Go for a walk. I know when we have over eaten the last thing we feel like doing is exercising, but going for a gentle walk can really help! If you are feeling full and not so great about yourself, going for a walk can give you a little pick-me-up. Besides, fresh air does the mind well! Maybe give a family member or friend a call while you walk and you'll surprise yourself with how far you go!
3. Eat lean protein and veggies. When you have eaten lots of fatty foods, processed foods and refined sugar your body probably isn’t feeling optimal. Just because you have fallen off the wagon a little doesn’t mean you can’t get back on track. Eating protein and veggies are satisfying, full of fiber and are great for your digestive system.
4. Plan your next meals. Looking forward and not back. You can prepare so you don’t overdo it tomorrow and beyond. Choose whole food recipes and plan out your meals for the week. Preparation is key. Set aside time to make as many of your meals in advance as possible so as to not be caught off guard and feel your best.

I hope these tips have helped!
