Make Time For Morning Workouts

I’m a real morning person, so getting up early to start my day makes me feel great! Its quiet, I gather my thoughts for the day and gear up for what lies ahead. However, I know lots of people struggle to get up early and exercise in the morning, so I thought this would be a great opportunity to talk about what you can do to make it easier!

Here are a few tips to getting started with an early morning workout if you have a busy day ahead.

CHOOSE SHORTER, HIGH INTENSITY WORKOUTS. Knowing you only have 15-30 minutes for a workout can make it easier to make time for. Never underestimate the power of a quick, high intensity workout. They are effective and will get you geared up for the day!

USE THE SNOOZE BUTTON SPARINGLY. Press snooze once or twice and it becomes easy to talk yourself out of getting up to do your workout. Make sure the night before you are practicing self affirmation and telling yourself that you will be working out in the AM so that you're mind is already there. That way, when the alarm goes off, you know you will be working out. Mind over matter! Also, try to set your alarm slightly earlier and get up right away; do some light stretching to get your body in the zone.

LEAVE YOUR GYM CLOTHES BY THE BED. Preparing the night before is key! The odds will be in your favor if you prepare both mentally and physically with your items the night before. Leave everything by your bedside or door so that you do not have to try and find anything in the AM.

Reward yourself if you stick to your routine. If you aren’t a morning person, the first few days, or even weeks, as you adjust to earlier morning workouts will be a bit hard. Make sure to practice positive reinforcement, such as giving yourself a small reward - this will make it easier to stick to your new habits.
