Habits to Break in the New Year

2020 is here! Can you believe it? A lot of people starting thinking about goals, what they want to achieve, what they want to change, and forming new habits. It’s a great time to think about where you want to go, what you want to do, and some bad habits you want to stop.

Here are some habits to change come the new year to become a better version of yourself.

Stop body shaming yourself. There is enough negativity in the world about women’s bodies, so don’t add your own thoughts and voice to that. We all have insecurities about our bodies, but it’s time to stop body shaming ourselves and worrying about things like cellulite or stretch marks. Harder than it sounds I know, but talk positive to yourself, you deserve that. Don’t allow your thoughts to tell you how you should look. Exercise for strength, happiness and longevity!

Constantly checking your phone. I know how hard it is to disconnect yourself from social media, emails and texts. But learning to pay attention to the people around you, your family, and the places that are in front of you is important, especially for your happiness and wellbeing. Try to make an effort to put your phone down more often and take note of what’s happening around you!

Try something new. While it’s natural to enjoy doing things you’re comfortable with, doing the same thing over and over again can be limiting. Doing the same workout every week means you may not be challenging yourself and your body, maybe you feel as though you are becoming stagnent. An awesome goal for the new year is to try something new! Sign up for a new class, go for a hike, or start weight training.

Stop putting your health last. Kindness towards all includes being kind to yourself. That includes taking care of your own health. This year, try to break the habit of putting your health last. Schedule time for your own workouts and don’t give up that time! Breath, meditate eat good, feel good - you got this!

Have the best year ever!
