We all need to find what works best with our skin, but sometimes we just don’t know. Skin is the bodies largest organ and it is what people see first, so we need to take good care of it. Now, over the years I have experimented with so many different creams, serums and ointments. I have pretty dry skin (pron to eczema) so I need to stay on top of it… It’s actually very annoying! But over the past year or two I have really found my happy nighttime essentials. Not to jump on the whole coconut oil bandwagon, but seriously, it’s a miracle worker and a must for my face at night; as well as essential oils! (My husband and I use so many essential oils!! But that will be a talk for another blog). Our faces our very delicate and need to be treated with proper care in the morning and at night. Here’s my nighttime go to’s:
1) coconut oil
Why? Coconut oil is safe solution for preventing dryness and flaking of skin. It delays the appearance of wrinkles; it helps in preventing premature aging due to its well-known antioxidant properties. It also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. For that exact reason, coconut oil forms the base ingredient of various body care products that are used for skin care. Which that brings me to my next products.
2) lavender essential oil
Why? The health benefits of lavender oil for the skin can be attributed to its antiseptic and antifungal properties. It is used to treat various skin disorders such as acne, wrinkles, psoriasis, and other inflammatory conditions. It is commonly used to speed up the healing process of wounds, cuts, burns, and sunburns because it improves the formation of scar tissues. It is also very calming!
Now for me, I mix the coconut oil and lavender oil together and blot it on my face before bed. It feels great and smells wonderful, but not only that, I wake up with a baby soft face!
